The photograph shown in the gallery for this article is of school children taken at what was then known as the Top School of East Brent.
The school is still located by St Mary's church at the top of Church Road, previously called Church Street until the 1970’s.
A lady called Kath Grant attended this school mentioned that the photograph was taken in / around 1926.
We have been in contact with Kath Grant’s daughter, a Ms Norma Body nee Tincknell.
Norma was able to tell us that Kath was born 1921 at Rosary Cottage, Rooksbridge and lived there all her life, until she passed away aged 86 in 2007. Therefore, she would have been some 5 years old in the 1926 photo.
Kath went on to first married a Willy Tincknell, Norma's father (yes. Willy not William) and after Willy died she married an Albert Huett.
Kath was the niece of Albert Grant who's name appears on the war memorial.
Kath did leave us with some indications of the names of the other children shown in this photograph, which could be :
